In his 1981 book, 'A Christian Manifesto,' Francis Schaeffer waxed eloquent on what many in our day consider too political an application of Christian faith and Biblical teaching.

He talked of John Witherspoon, the first president of the college that would eventually become Princeton University, as well as a Scottish presbyterian minister, as well as a signer of the Declaration of Independence.

So also, Schaeffer quoted Revelation 3:2 in relation to the American Church, and its lackadaisical indifference to good governance in the late 20th century.

"Wake up, and strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your works complete in the sight of my God."

In sum, writing a mere 8 years after the U.S. Supreme Court made Roe v. Wade the "law of the land" in 1973, Schaeffer demonstrated and argued persuasively that the Christian who reads their Bible, as well as Church history generally, as well as American history especially, must conclude some very important things about the proper role of good government.

More specifically, a believer's position relative theirs must be informed by the conviction that God is our supreme authority, with human authority by needs be sublimated to what Scripture prescribes, commands, prohibits, and promises. 

That is to say, the communists have a manifesto. So, too, the humanists have theirs. The Christians, therefore, must also have a manifesto, and do, in the Word of God, and the faithful testimony of 2,000 years of saints who precede us, particularly since the Protestant Reformation, and the founding of the United States of America.

Consider the curious case of two women, one named Wisdom, and the other named Folly. They are similar in some ways. Both alike call to the simple, and to him who lacks sense, from the highest places of the town they both live in.

After that, the contrasts are stark.

Wisdom has her own house, livestock, wine, and table. Moreover, she has young women, presumably in her employment. Moreover, she is a woman who is clearly capable and active. She builds, hews, slaughters, mixes, sets, and sends. That is, she has means and plans, and is generous. Her invitation to the simple and those who lack sense is to incentivize the getting of insight from her with a meal. 

You might even say that the woman Wisdom is seeking the welfare of the city she lives in by offering correction, reproof, instruction, and teaching, sharing both knowledge and wisdom for how to live.

Folly, on the other hand, is seductively simple, yet truly ignorant. She too has a house, but she takes a seat, and loudly entices others who are simple to steal, or to enjoy what is stolen, and to be secretive. Yet one of the dirtiest secrets about Folly is that those who listen to her, and accept her dinner invitation, die and go down to the grave.

Whose party invitation would we rather accept, and who do we hope more of our fellow townspeople dine with? 

I recently came across a YouTube short of Spanish tennis pro Rafael Nadal being asked why the best women tennis players are paid less. His answer both amuses and intrigues me, including the refreshing admission that he doesn't know, but also looping in other sports, and even the fashion industry, where the top female models make more than the top male models.

Let's take this question a bit further, though, and talk about why top athletes of either of the two sexes make so much money for playing sports, and how this has to do with the selling of tickets and merchandise, as well as advertising and sponsorships.

So why would male athletes make more money from sponsorships than female athletes typically do? Part of this comes back again to the question of ticket sales and merchandising, which is directly the result of popular interest in watching men or women play sports. 

I think there may be more as well, though, related to the traditional, historical, and biological role men in functional societies typically play, as providers and protectors, even as the role of women is typically keeping the home, and both having and caring for children.

This is not all just a factor of who can or cannot naturally have babies. It's also about the effect of testosterone on bone and muscle mass, stature, and default aggressiveness, as well as risk tolerance.

In other words, men are perceived or assumed to be more likely to filter out sponsorships they believe present unnecessary risks to health and safety of women and children, and the general public, as well as those sponsorships they believe to be of poor quality, and thus representing a low return on investment where value added is concerned.

That is, men are more disposed to asking the question of "What are you doing here?" And this is because they are more capable of taking action to neutralize threats, to themselves and others under their care, as well as being more likely to push through less ideal opportunities for provision in favor of the best option.

This factoring in a more or less unspoken way in our individual and collective psychology, common sense would tell us we are more drawn to men as sponsors where concerns about provision and protection come into play relative product safety and effectiveness concerns, very prevalent in our day.

It may turn out that the Left in this country is bringing about their very own worst nightmare the more, rather than less, they succeed at getting what they thought they wanted, namely the abolition of Christian faith in the public square.

Al Gore says "we are still failing badly" with regards to Climate Change dangers being mitigated by the World Economic Forum. By this, he of course means that the world's wealthiest and most powerful underdogs need to do more to stop little people like you and me from driving internal combustion engine vehicles, or heating and electrifying our homes with affordable fossil fuels. 

Perhaps no one has told him the good news, that Japan's prime minister recently announced that country is on the brink of falling apart due to the inheritors of the samurai not having babies. Either way, on the plus side, this will mean fewer consumers, and a country with no people in it will presumably be carbon neutral.

But speaking of carbon, I wonder what Gore, Jr. would say, whose father was once upon a time the VP of Occidental Petroleum, and sat on its board of directors, if he read this article from Answers in Genesis from 2006, by Dr. Andrew A. Snelling, titled 'The Origin of Oil.' Would he moderate his doomsday predictions, for instance, or reduce the footprint of his megalomaniacal demagoguery, if he believed God may have put that oil and gas underground with the Great Deluge?

No matter, I suppose. Gore would probably still prefer Sid's theology and politics over Provorov's. The culture war has its sights set on the NHL.

In the words of Michael Scott, from the episode of The Office which was removed from Comedy Central's rerun schedules, "This is an environment of welcoming, and you should just get the hell out of here."

Meanwhile, those of us otherwise excluded can nevertheless cheer on the likes of Congressman Buddy Carter from Georgia, for putting forward legislation to abolish the IRS, and replace income and payroll taxes with national sales taxes.

Or maybe we can affirm a different kind of couple, from the sort applauded by the woke folk, who love the LGBTQ++ in the name of toleration, but so often loathe and detest any who abstain from joining in celebrating vice, because they cannot do so with a clear conscience. 

William and Bonnie Daniels, for instance, married for 71 years, since 1951, recovered from an open marriage in the 1970's to stick it out the last 50. In their words, it just didn't work, but was very painful, to be faithless. And so long as we don't make any mention of Christian faith, and keep it all prudential up in here, I suppose Sid will be able to contain himself. 

Or else maybe someone will say Hollywood is for everyone, just like hockey is supposed to be, or the WEF's global agenda, and the Great Reset. The fine print in all of the above is that intolerance will not be tolerated, even if it comes only in so mild a form as refusal to affirm and participate personally.
