If we are called to keep watch, does it matter where we stand? If Jesus commands us to be ready, what pitfalls must we be aware of?

This Sunday we looked at two advent pitfalls - a failure of nerve and a failure of heart (see Tod Bolsinger, Tempered Resilience).

“Failure of nerve is caving to the pressure of the anxiety of the group to return to the status quo. It is a loss of courage to further the mission…Failure of heart is the “emotional cutoff” that occurs when the leader’s discouragement leads them to psychologically abandon their people and the charge they have been given.”

In the end we need more than awareness, we need to stand secure - well differentiated - in Christ.
