What are the components of an ideal community? Are "ideal" communities even possible in today's world? This week at the Gathering, we examined these questions in a conversation with our friend and fellow Storyliner Chris Mason, co-founder of Watermark Brewing Co. in downtown Stevensville. 

People.  Sheeesshhh! Why is life together so difficult?  Why can't we just all get along? What drives us apart? What brings us together?  Is it worth it?

These are some of the questions Mike Gathright considered in Storyline's new series about community, that began this Sunday. 

We all have a story. No matter how long or dramatic, each of us has a unique set of moments and experiences that have shaped us into the people we are today. This week at the Gathering we heard some of those stories from friends of storyline in our semi-annual “Story Sunday.”

Mike Gathright, with Paul Knapp and Jill McNabnay, addressed questions that came in over the last six weeks, as well as questions that came in live during the Gathering.

There are so many things about life that make the life of faith difficult. For many, none more so than the seemingly insurmountable gap between science and faith.

Over the past three weeks Mike Gathright has unpacked some of the great objections and obstacles to faith. This week at the gathering Paul Knapp will continue along that same path and address the giant pink elephant in the room… “If there is a God who says that He loves us, then why on earth would He allow us to suffer? Wouldn’t this God want us to flourish without pain or sorrow or hardship?”

How could a loving God _______?  We can fill in that blank with a very long list.

Every religion seems to agree - there is only one way to God.  Unfortunately, they all disagree on which way that is!  

In week 2 of Storyline's series, "Objections and Obstacles to Faith", Mike Gathright considered this issue and the surprising way Jesus changed the equation on religion.

People may often consider how our inner world--our thoughts, our prayers, our mindset--impacts our immediate community and the people in it. But what about the reverse--have you ever considered how our outer world--the place we call home--impacts our inner world? This might be yet another question that God asks us: why do you live where and when you live? Why does it matter?]

This week at the Gathering, we took a close look at the places and the people we call home, and our relationship to them--and the interesting implications that might offer to our inner selves.
