COMMUNICATION – it’s all about gender! Before we look at these gender differences I want to remind you that all of us have both masculine and feminine gender traits within us. We are a mixture of these traits so we must not judge ourselves or others [including our mates] as against some absolute standard. As I said before, there is no perfectly masculine man, nor perfectly feminine woman. Such a person would be inhuman. We really do need one another.

It is much easier to do something successfully when you know why you are doing it. Until I see a nail being used to hold two pieces of wood together I really have no idea what a hammer is. Until I understand its purpose a hammer is really just a dangerous weapon. Even when someone explains to me how to use a hammer it remains useless until I understand that its purpose is to build a home. Marriage is just like that – a potentially dangerous thing until I understand what its purpose is and how to use it properly. So we will start with the purpose of marriage.

Marriage has several God planned purposes. The foundational purpose of marriage has to do with the nature of God and the deepest purpose of human life.
