When you really boil it down, the apostle Paul did one thing after his conversion: he followed Jesus closely. And when he did that, he found himself in community with others who were following Jesus closely. The reason is simple: following Jesus closely leads to feeling community deeply. If we're honest, we love and hate that, because living in community is a lot like a dog licking a lime (there's a video in here that will help that make sense). In Acts 21, that close community led to some unforgettable good-byes as Paul made his way to what he thought would be the place where he would die.
