The glory of God is man living by faith in Jesus Christ and walking in the all-sufficient wisdom of God! That is where Proverbs 3 wants to take us! It begins with this appeal: “My son, do not forget my teaching….”

Raising children can be daunting as there seem to be so many "ways" to follow. Pastor Phil unpacks Proverbs 22:6 and explains that wisdom is the right way to go.

Proverbs 22:4 reminds us that wisdom and humility are closely linked and that one of the wisest things we can do in life is pursue humility.

God himself tells us how to take our next steps into newness of life. We want to change. We want to get closer to him, closer than we have ever gone before. And here, God tells us how….

Followers of Jesus who seek hard after wisdom, and practice the spiritual disciplines, will pack on more and more wisdom as they walk with God. But there are times in life when Wisdom can be dangerous….

The book of Proverbs repeatedly reminds us to pursue a life of wisdom. This includes how we use our tongues. Proverbs 18:21 teaches us that death and life are in the power of the tongue. And since our words have such power, wisdom cries out for each of us to learn how to guard our speech.

God is speaking to us through a father who is advising his son. “My son, hear your father’s instruction….” Every dad needs to have some talks with his son or daughter during the critical teen years. That is the original setting in which this wisdom is shared. This dad is having a serious talk with his son. Let’s listen in…and learn!

Both the commands of the law and the thunderings of the prophets spread out before us the gigantic truths of God. They gave us the big picture. But we need more than the big picture. So God gave us wise counsel in Proverbs – wise counsel for daily life.
