Pesach wasn’t just a jailbreak from Egypt. It was a war against avodah zarah—and the first weapon was shockingly simple: take the Egyptian god, the lamb, and tie it to your bed. Four days staring at it. Four days dismantling the lie. And in each generation we need to find the avoda zarah for that generation and tie it and prepare it for slaughter.
We open the haggadah with הא לחמא עניא, the bread of poverty, because, as with every moment and step on the night of the Seder, we are building our Emunah stores for the year. Listen to find out how this first seemingly random out-of-place song is the key to the whole thing.
Along the way we talk about the dangerous difference between wealthy people and rich people and how the sickness of rich people has wounded our community since Kamtza and Bar Kamtza.
I also had a few words for our dear friend Tucker Carlson.
If you want to understand Pesach, you have to understand the one foundation everything stands on: emunah.
