THE GIFTS OF GOD — Sondra Ray and Markus Ray on A Course in Miracles

Christ's vision is what we are seeking as students of A Course in Miracles. To look on a "forgiven world" is to accept the Atonement for ourselves, through extending total forgiveness to others. The "gift of Christ" is the vision of this "forgiven world." It requires that we totally let go of our mindset from the past and arrive at that "empty place" within ourselves. We receive this holy vision when we are willing to give up our judgments and grievances. "Can we do it?" is the question.

There is a peace that accompanies Christ's vision in which we "let forgiveness rest up all things." He bestows it upon us as we are willing to forgive ourselves and everyone else, including all situations in which we feel "stuck." The ego wants to hold on, in spite of the pain and suffering that it has manufactured. There is an unwillingness to admit we are responsible for our own suffering. When we see Christ's vision is our own real vision, something already in us, then we can accept the responsibility is merely a change in our perspective that we can decide.

What is our world but our "filters" through which we perceive and project our "reality." Perception is our thought mixed with the input of the body's senses. We obscure the "sight of Christ" with our filter of the ego. Perfect Happiness is ours when we use Christ's vision to perceive. Are we using Christ's eyes to see? The darkness of our bad moods is something we do to "deny the Thought of God." We consciously or unconsciously choose death and hell instead of eternal life and the Joy of Heaven. All fear is past. Love is here now but we have to think and feel along these lines of the forgiven world which is Christ's vision.

Can we be "born again" today in the version that A Course in Miracles holds out to us? This may not fit in the terminology that we have been skeptical to receive from the "fundamentalist" churches that we rejected in the past. Being "born again" had pejorative feeling in our claiming of Self-Reliance in our search for our true identity. We are asking the Angels to witness this "birth of Christ" in us. It is a lofty Lesson. Can we receive the simple purity of it, and accept the Self God created in us?

This is an action of shifting out of all the preoccupation with the past and the problems we bring forward from the past; we embrace the light of the present in which we have forgiven our past. Willingness to forgive totally is the key to this light. "Forgiveness is my function as the light of the world,' is Lesson #62. Guilt is gone in the present, and guilt is the major "cause of suffering." Our eternal Holiness is here now, but we have to tap into it. When we do, the light has come and we have forgiven the world. All guilt is meaningless in this, Christ's vision.

The advent of "The Second Coming" is upon us. Can we extend ourselves and our awareness of our part in this "Second Coming?" Can we awaken into our Christ Consciousness? Can we "let forgiveness rest upon all things," especially on all aspects of our own life? This is our life action that realizes (or not) this Self we share. We hope that coming together will give us the necessary Strength to awaken the Christ in us. We hope we can forgive everyone and everything, most of all ourselves. Truly then, this is the "Second Coming."

This Lesson gives us a choice to make, between the world of sorrow and death, or the world of complete forgiveness that represents Christ's vision. The real world is the latter, and from this platform does God Himself reach down to us and draw us nigh unto the Heaven in which we were originally created. The instant this will take for us is outside of time. It is here now when we let go of making our "illusions" into images that only seem real. We can still our minds and accept the grace that is given us. Here and now. And the world of sorrow and death endure only an instant when we are determined to see things differently.

Gratitude and Love go together. Forgiveness erases all that is not Love. The way to Love God is to Love our brothers and sisters, God's Son. What better directions could we have? We have a responsibility to come to this inner peace of mind.

In order to be free of guilt from all of the mistakes we hold in our subconscious, we have to master forgiveness and extend it to others. As we forgive others for their "mistakes," we are absolved of any regrets or guilt from our own mistakes. Thus are we both freed at once and restored to the awareness of innocence in which we were created. God's will for us is that we are aware of this Original Innocence. It is the purpose of miracles.
