Ever fallen in love with a tap on Instagram, only to wonder whether it’ll actually work in your bathroom? You’re not alone, and that’s exactly what we’re digging into this week on The Gippsland Builder.
It’s not often you get the builder, the supplier and the installer in the same room, but this week we’ve got all three. Trav and Josh sit down with Tarah from Reece and Tom from Response Plumbing to chat about how they work together to bring your fixtures from the showroom to your home. They talk about what really sets quality, locally tested products apart from cheap imports, and share the trends homeowners are loving right now, from in-wall mixers and textured finishes to warm neutrals and brushed nickel.
Their advice is simple: do your homework early, visit a showroom, and trust your interior designer.
Wherever you’re at with your build, we’d love to hear from you. Find us on Instagram @gjgardnerwarragul.
This week on The Gippsland Builder, we're pulling back the curtain on how an idea actually becomes a real, buildable plan, and the two people who make it happen behind the scenes.
Trav and Josh sit down with Kylie Moloney, our New Home Consultant, and Shannon Whelan, our Architectural Draftsperson, to talk through the journey from first chat to finished plan. They get into how trust gets built with honesty from day one, why a proper design process takes three to four months (not a two hour quote in a sales office), and how soil tests, site surveys and block orientation all shape a plan long before it ever reaches paper.
Kylie and Shannon also reveal one of their most popular tools, a one to one scale projection that lets clients physically walk through their future home, room by room, before a single brick is laid. They talk about why good design can't be rushed, how the team never pushes their own preferences onto a client's vision, and what people should bring to their first meeting to get the most out of the process.
Their advice is simple: come with your ideas, know your block and your budget, and keep communication open and honest the whole way through.
If you're thinking about your own build, dreaming, planning, or somewhere in between, we'd love to hear from you.

This week on The Gippsland Builder, we're pulling back the curtain on some of the industry's oldest tricks, and why they cost buyers more than they realise.
Trav and Josh sit down with Lochlin Wall, our Sales Manager (better known around these parts as Mr Gippsland), to talk about the "traps" used across the building industry, from the classic display home "rabbit trap" designed to lure you into a sales conversation, to base prices that look great on paper but have almost nothing to do with what your finished home will actually cost.
They get into why a site visit isn't optional, slope, power lines and orientation can quietly turn a build into a financial mess if nobody catches them early, and why five minutes should be the benchmark for how fast a builder responds to your enquiry.
Lochlin doesn't hold back either, admitting he'll sit down and go through a contract with someone he knows will never build with him, just so they walk away protected. His advice: ask about site costs, energy ratings and what's genuinely included in your base price, check reviews on platforms that verify a real building permit number, and always ask for references.
If you're thinking about your own build, dreaming, planning, or somewhere in between, we'd love to hear from you.

This week on The Gippsland Builder, we're talking about the side of building nobody gets excited about, until it stops your application dead.
Trav and Josh sit down with Dan McNamara, mortgage broker, to unpack what actually happens when a bank looks at your loan application, and why the small stuff matters more than people think.
They get into the things quietly working against buyers without them knowing. A payday loan that flags you as a risk before the bank's even looked at the rest of your file. Credit card limits that creep up every 6 to 12 months and eat into your borrowing power in the background.
Dan breaks down the practical fixes, like calling your bank to wind an inflated limit back down, and why walking in loan-ready beats walking in hopeful when you're applying for a build-sized loan. Somewhere in there, Trav also tries to convince everyone that finance can be sexy. You'll have to listen to find out if it worked.
If you're thinking about your own build, dreaming, planning, or somewhere in between, we'd love to hear from you.

This week on The Gippsland Builder, we're talking about the people who help make the builds happen.
Trav and Josh sit down with Sean, branch manager at Dahlsens (and also Trav's brother!), to unpack a partnership between G.J. Warragul and Dahlsens that goes back more than 10 years, all the way to the early days when both businesses were finding their feet in the Warragul market.
They get into what a real partnership actually looks like. Backing each other through the tough stretches, like the supply shortages during COVID.
Solving the headaches of tricky delivery sites. Rolling out new systems. Less vendor and customer, more two local businesses growing together and committing to another decade of it, with opportunities for their teams and a focus on building right across Gippsland.
If you're thinking about your own build, dreaming, planning, or somewhere in between, we'd love to hear from you.

Welcome to the very first episode of The Gippsland Builder.
Before we get into builds, trades, and the stuff that goes into a 10/10 home, we figured we should tell you who we actually are.
Trav sits down with Josh, the director of G.J. Warragul, to lay the foundations. From picking up the tools as a young apprentice, to the moment Trav and Josh's paths first crossed, to the decision to open the doors of G.J. Warragul - Josh shares the story behind the business and the standard it's built on.
If you're thinking about your own build, dreaming, planning, or somewhere in between - we'd love to hear from you.
