This incredible organisation has been providing free medical treatment for the people of Yonibana, Sierra Leone, with a unique approach of empowering the local population to become self-sufficient.

The Better Lives Foundation is aiming to construct and maintain Sierra Leone's first dental teaching hospital. In this episode, I am joined by my wife - Dr Bijal Sisodia-Shah - as we reminisce about our recent trip, what we experienced and how more people can get involved.

Currently, one of the most influential environmental activists in our world today, Sailesh started off transforming the internet from its early analog form to the digital superhighway accessible to over 7 billion people, and boosting its speed to the one we are so used to today, despite being told that it was impossible.

However, after discovering how dire the climate crisis was, in 2006, Sailesh sold his company and committed the rest of his life to solving the environmental crises affecting all life on Earth. Dr. Rao is the author of four life-changing books, including Carbon Dharma, and Carbon Yoga, and is the Executive Producer of several documentaries that you may have already seen on streaming platforms like Netflix. Cowspiracy, What The Health, They are Trying to Kill Us, The End of Medicine (2022), The Land of Ahimsa (2022), and Milked (2022). His work is also featured in the award winning film, Countdown to Year Zero.  

Sailesh was designated a Climate Hero by The Guardian Newspaper in 2023, which recognised him as “a foremost voice on green transition and on the true scale of societal change required to save the planet.”
