Publisher's Summary:
Evie and Nicole Glass share a last name. They also shared a husband. When a tragic car accident ends the life of Richard Glass, it also upends the lives of Evie and Nicole, and their children. There's no love lost between the widow and the ex. In fact, Evie sees a silver lining in all this heartache - the chance to rid herself of Nicole once and for all. But Evie wasn't counting on her childrens bond with their baby half brother, and she wasn't counting on Nicoles desperate need to hang on to the threads of family, no matter how frayed. Strapped for cash, Evie cautiously agrees to share living expenses - and her home - with Nicole and her baby. But when Evie suspects that Nicole is determined to rearrange more than her kitchen, she must decide who she can trust. More than that, she must ask: What makes a family?

Made me think!
Richard Glass died. He leaves behind a wife named Nicole and a baby son named Luca. He also leaves behind an ex-wife named Evie and pre-teen twins named Sophie and Sam.
Life is complicated. How do you deal with this mess? Sophie and Sam love their little brother Luca. There is NO love between Evie and Nicole. Richard moved into Nicoleâs apartment the night he left Evie. Obviously there are going to be some difficult feelings there.
Nicole is young. (Arenât they always?) And now, aside from Luca, Nicole is alone. But not really, because Sophie, Sam and Evie are family, arenât they? Would it be fair to separate the children when theyâve already suffered such a loss?
What would you do? How would you cope?
THE GLASS WIVES is an interesting twist on what happens when family gets messy and complicated. Author Amy Sue Nathan takes a situation that is horrible in and of itself and turns it inside out. She gives us characters that are believe it or not, believable. I thought that Iâd always be on one side of the issue, until I wasnât. And then it twisted again. There are some very well managed fringe characters in this book. I loved Evieâs friends Beth and Laney (most of the time). And there were times when I wanted to cheer for Evie and other times when I wanted to slap her. And Nicole~~sheâs such a multilayered character. Donât just see her surface. Wait for it~~thereâs more to her than meets the eye...kind of like all of us.
A Nice Summer Read With A Glass of Wine
One of the most anticipated novels this summer is Amy Sue Nathan's, THE GLASS WIVES.ï¿ I first read about it in "Writer's Digest." I got caught up in all the advance buzz and couldn't wait until it was released and I zapped it onto my kindle. I was so intrigued by the premise of the storyline. I mean really, consider this: the ex and former-wives of a man creating a family after he's killed? I thought nearly every configuration of the family dynamic had been explored. The one I remember throwing me for a loop last year was THE UNDERSIDE OF JOY by Sere Prince Halverson. It was a beautifully written novel and the family situation was extremely complicated.
In THE GLASS WIVES, Richard Glass' ex-wife, Evie Glass and her 10-year old twins Sophie and Sam are awkwardly united with his former mistress and now current wife, Nicole Glass, and her 10-month old son, Luca.
