INTERVIEW: Its day four of the Constitution Hill Human Rights Festival. The online festival which is free debates the impact of Covid-19 on human rights, the rule of law and what our world will or should look like after the crisis. We’re now joined on the line by Happy Khambule from Greenpeace.

INTERVIEW: This year’s Human Rights Festival at Constitution Hill takes place online where all are free to attend at no cost. This year the festival focuses on the impact that Covid-19 has on human rights as well as the direction South Africa and the world should be taking following the pandemic. One of the themes explored at the festival is the Crisis in education during the Covid-19 Pandemic. To speak to us more we have Gretchen Prangley, Founder and CEO at Play Africa.

INTERVIEW: The Constitution Hill Human Rights Festival is being held as an online event this year. It started yesterday and will run until March 31. The ten-day festival is focusing on the impact of COVID-19 on human rights. 10 themes will be unpacked over the 10-day period. One of the themes is Gender Based Violence in South Africa.

ARTS: The National Arts Council still hasn’t distributed the R300 million Covid-19 relief funds to deserving artists. Artists have staged a sit-in at the National Arts Council over the lack of transparency on the payment of the Presidential Employment Stimulus. We now get clarity from Dr Sipho Sithole who’s the Board Council Member and Head of Communications at the National Arts Council.

BE DRIVEN: Mothupi Kgopa is a Mathematician, Poultry Farmer & Author of a book called Chicken Farming Master: How to make money from chicken farming. He started out in chicken farming from his mother’s backyard in 2013. He also co-owns of Afrifarm Crowd where he trains farmers online who have become commercial chicken farmers even as far as Botswana, DRC and Angola. He joins us on the line.

INTERVIEW: Four police officers have made their first court appearance in connection with Mthokozisi Ntumba’s death. Ntumba was shot and killed in Braamfontein, Johannesburg last week when police fired rubber bullets at protesting students. Meanwhile Ntumba’s memorial service was held today and he will be laid to rest in his hometown of Bergville in KZN on Saturday. We’re now joined on the line by Ndileka Cola, spokesperson for the Independent Police Investigative Directorate.
