The case comes after a South African man and a woman from the Democratic Republic of Congo sought to register the birth of their daughter who was born in Grahamstown. However the home affairs department refused to register the child on the basis that the mother didn’t have a visa or a permit.

The website was launched last week Monday commemorating the death of Uyinene Mrwetyana, a 19-year-old woman who was raped and beaten to death with a scale in a Post Office last year.
