Poet Musawenknosi Nqobile Duma will be the praise singer for President Cyril Ramaphosa when he delivers the State of the Nation Address tonight. The 28-year-old from Umlazi in KZN goes by his stage name, Inqanawe Yangempela. A praise singer or imbongi narrates a president’s history, clan, and family lineage in song, dance, and narration. Only 18% of South African Grade 4 children can read for meaning. This is according to the Reading Panel Report and study. The report also found that about 60% of children have not learned most of the letters of the alphabet by the end of grade one. Former Bafana Bafana midfielder John Moeti has passed away at the age of 55. Moeti was part of Clive Barker's squad that won the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations. He was also a member of the 1995 Orlando Pirates squad that claimed the Confederation of African Football Champions League. We now speak to his former team mate Edward Motale.
