In this episode, I'm joined by Avery Morales, a clean living /"nontoxic" product consultant living in Los Angeles, CA. She helps to curate product swaps that work with clients and their lifestyles, without harmful ingredients. Her practice covers all areas -- including beauty, personal care products, home, and lifestyle. If you didn't already know, Endocrine disruptors are natural or man-made chemicals that may mimic or interfere with the body's hormones, known as the endocrine system. When absorbed in the body, an endocrine disruptor can decrease or increase normal hormone levels, mimic the body's natural hormones, or alter the natural production of hormones. These harms include reproductive issues like changes to fertility, early puberty and risk of low birth weight, obesity, diabetes, immune system impacts, cardiovascular and respiratory problems, some types of cancer, and neurological and behavioral problems. The developing fetus, infants and children are especially vulnerable, since their physiological systems are still developing. This episode isn't meant to scare you, BUT educate you on products to look out for to improve your hormone health!
We dive deep into what toxins may be hiding within your everyday products and Avery walks us through the importance of non-toxic living + endocrine disruptors, how chemicals affect your hormones, how to begin making changes, and resources you can use to cross-reference products and chemicals. Get ready to take notes as Avery does a LOT of name-dropping on some common clean brands besides just the ones at Whole Foods 😉
