The stark contrast between material wealth and spiritual poverty is highlighted, reminding us that true riches come from a deep relationship with Christ. The imagery of Jesus knocking at the door of our hearts is a powerful call to intimacy with Him, so the message compels us to open our hearts, repent of our lukewarm attitudes, and passionately pursue a vibrant faith that overcomes and shares in Christ's glory.

In this powerful exploration of Revelation 3:7-13, Pastor Mike delves into the message to the church in Philadelphia, one of only two churches that received no condemnation from Jesus. We're reminded that even small, seemingly powerless congregations can be mighty in faith. The imagery of an open door, which no one can shut, speaks to the incredible opportunity we have to enter God's kingdom and invite others in. To the fifth of the seven churches in Revelation, Sardis, Jesus accuses them of being DEAD. Despite the perception of life and vitality the congregation of the church in Sardis is actually dead before the Lord's eyes. What condemnation!

Pastor Mike Weaver returns from a three week break to ask what this message means for the church today, for there are many churches that have become so pale an imitation of the Church of Jesus Christ that they blend into the background of the world.

Pastor Mike Weaver considers the first of the letters to each of the angles of the seven churches, namely Ephesus. A church that in many respects seems to have things sorted in their faith, able to live as followers of Jesus Christ even though surrounded by society on all sides who live in ways contrary to the way of the Lord. Then comes the 'but'... Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.

Pastor Mike challenges you today, that if you know Jesus to re-examine your walk with the Lord and ask if it is was when you first encountered Him. And if you don't know Jesus, then to consider following Him today and know a love beyond all loves.

(Correction - in the sermon Pastor Mike makes reference to the goddess Artemis (Greek) / Diana (Roman) as the goddess of fertility and sexuality, when actually she was of 'the hunt, nature, childbirth and children and was personified as goddess of the moon. As we have pondered the question through John’s letter - how can I be sure of my faith, John draws to the end of his letter with a statement of the threefold Christian certainty. A Christian is free from the power of sin, a Christian is on the side of God against the world and a Christian is someone who ‘knows’ God and is known by God can be certain of His promises because of this relationship. We will explore each of these statements in this week’s sermon.
