Gnostic interpretations of the Bible stories in order shed light on the hidden meanings and messages that are typically overlooked or misunderstood in conventional Christianity.
Genesis tells the story of creation and the first humans on earth, Adam and Eve. Gnostics view the Garden of Eden as a metaphorical representation of the human mind. The story of Cain and Abel is interpreted differently in Gnosticism; Abel's sacrifice represents the spiritual aspect of being, while Cain's sacrifice represents the lower, visible world, and is rejected by God. Moses and his people journeyed out of Egypt towards the promised land, and the burning bush represented the divine spark within each person that ignites when they encounter spiritual wisdom.
The New Testament is composed of the Gospels, which recount the life of Jesus of Nazareth, his teachings, and his miracles. Gnostics interpret the Bible differently from orthodox Christians. Orthodox Christians see the parables of Jesus as simple stories or illustrations, but the Gnostic interpretation reveals that they contain hidden meanings or unspoken truths that can only be understood by those who are initiated into the mysteries of the higher reality.
