Jeremiah reviews book 1 of Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis. Lewis originally delivered the chapters of this book as radio broadcasts during World War II. It seems appropriate therefore to revisit this classic introduction to Christianity in the time of the COVID-19 crisis. This is part 1 of a 4 part series.

In this episode Jeremiah reads Isaiah 55, Psalm 91, and Luke 12:22-34, and provides some comments on them. The hypothesis of this episode is that God is in control, regardless of what circumstances may look like, and that God has a good plan for each of us. The experiment is to meditate upon the Word of God.

Jeremiah interviews Dr. Matthew Harmon, who is a professor of New Testament Studies at Grace Theological Seminary. Dr. Harmon wrote a book called Asking the Right Questions: A Practical Guide to Understanding and Applying the Bible, which focuses on questions to ask in group Bible study. In this conversation we discussed his spiritual story, his heart behind writing his books, and the importance of relationships in the Christian faith.

This episode is a conversational meditation about having a relationship with God. The hypothesis is that we should be looking for patterns of God's communication to us in our thoughts, feelings, and circumstances. The experiment is to be aware of these patterns, and to talk about them with God, with ourselves, and with others.

In this episode Jeremiah has a conversation with a very cool guy who goes by the name Pastor JJ. We talked about his spiritual story, his experience as a pastor, the state of the Christian Church, evangelism, authenticity, predestination, and the blessings and challenges of social media. 

The hypothesis of this episode is that our spiritual lives are incomplete if we do not express compassion and kindness to our fellow people. The experiment is to actively help those who are outside of our normal circle of relationships.

The hypothesis of this episode is that what happens in this life is not just attributable to God, yourself, or other people, but that there are also supernatural influences of evil. The experiment is to pray the last verse of the Lord's prayer: "And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil."
