There are several different motifs used in the New Testament to explain the significance of Jesus' death, one of which is the "sacrifice of atonement". In this episode, #23 of The Godwit Podcast with David Kowalick and Paul Smith, we discuss how the New Testament refers to Jesus' death as an atoning sacrifice in light of what we've discussed in previous episodes regarding atonement in the Old Testament. We look at atonement in the letter to the Hebrews, 1 John and the reference to atonement in Romans 3.
