Rey beat Kylo Ren in their lightsaber duel in Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens from The Sequel Trilogy. Many discusses the fact that Rey should not be able to wield a lightsaber let alone beat Kylo Ren because she doesn't have training and thus she is a Mary Sue. I will not be talking about that aspect of The Force Awakens today. In this video, I discuss why from a narrative perspective it makes sense that during their lightsaber duel, Rey had to beat Kylo Ren.

However, there has been some concerns about how often we should see Luke Skywalker, whether that be in the Mandalorian, or any Star Wars story. Finn yelled out for Rey a lot during the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, and while I definitely think this was mostly poor writing and how I think Finn's character was wasted, I think a lot of people are overlooking a lot of things. In this video, I explain why Finn is always yelling Rey.
