He has coached collegiately with Georgetown University Men’s and Women’s lacrosse, and women’s crew teams, and Marymount University Men’s lacrosse. McQuilkin interned at the University of Texas at Austin in the football program. He has apprenticed under Raphael Ruiz studying proper implementation of science-based, performance-driven training systems. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences in 2008, and a Master’s degree in Health Promotion from Marymount University in 2010.

For today’s episode we are joined by Thomie Venisee, Director of Client Success at ADP. As an athlete, Thomie was name All-State and All-Region in football for three straight years. He graduated from High School with scholarship offers for football, basketball, baseball, and track & field. He then went on to Troy where he was a three-year starter and led the team to two Southland Conference Championships. After college, Thomie played for the Hamburg Blue Devils of the German Football League where he won the 2003 German Bowl. After playing Following his time overseas Thomie played for both the Columbus Destroyers and the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League. Thomie was inducted into the Albany Sports Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2014. He has his bachelors from Troy, a masters from Cornell University, and his MBA from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

He has deployed regularly on domestic and international kidnappings/hostage takings and has received numerous FBI/DOJ Awards. Phil leads the Archdiocese of Chicago’s Violence Prevention Initiatives where he is responsible for all aspects of safety, programs, and partnerships for 209 schools and 316 Parishes. He is also an Adjunct Instructor of Negotiation, Business Intelligence and Leadership at DePaul University Business School’s Department of Management & Entrepreneurship. He has served on the City of Chicago’s Office of Violence Prevention Advisory and the Governor of Illinois Public Safety Transition Committee. Prior to the FBI, Phil practiced law in Chicago and managed a violence prevention organization. He is a graduate of DePaul University College of Law and the University of Illinois, which he attended on an athletic scholarship and twice captained the Illini Swim Team. Phil is a recipient of a U.S. House of Representatives Award for Outstanding Courage and Heroism, an Illinois State Bar Association Service Award and is an inductee into Loyola Academy's Athletic Hall of Fame.

Episode 68 – Dr. Pat Ivey: Beyond Sets and Reps

For today’s episode we are joined by Dr. Pat Ivey, Assistant VP/ Associate Athletics Director for Student Athlete Health and Performance at the University of Louisville. Prior to Dr. Ivey’s arrival to Louisville, he served as the Assistant Athletic Director of Athletic Performance at Arkansas State University. He oversaw the Athletic Performance Staff and was responsible to the training and development of all ASU’s sports teams. He also oversaw the Sports Nutrition department and was the primary deliverer of Mental Performance to the Football Team as well the Athletic Performance Staff. Pat Ivey lettered as a defensive end at Missouri from 1993-95. In 1995, he was honored as being the strongest athlete in the history of Missouri. In 1996, he was signed as a free agent by the San Diego Chargers. Beginning in 1998, Ivey worked as a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, at the University of Missouri. He started his graduate assistantship after spending time with Denver Broncos and during his time with the Green Bay Packers in 1999.

Episode 67 – Reilly Dampeer: OKC High Performance Rowing

For today’s episode we are joined by Head Coach of the Oklahoma City High Performance Rowing Center, Reilly Dampeer. Coach Dampeer has coached various national team athletes since 2010, at events including Senior, U23 and U19 World Championships, Pan American Games, and World Cups. Dampeer came to Oklahoma in 2016 from Washington, DC, where she was the coach of a high-performance club rowing program for eight years. She has also coached many athletes to the podium at National Championships, National Selection Regattas and other international events like Henley Royal Regatta and the Australian National Championships. Coach Dampeer is a participant in the U.S. Olympic Committee National Team Coach Leadership and Education Program. As an athlete, Dampeer rowed for Santa Clara University for four years, and after college trained at several clubs around the country. She won a National Championship title in the Single and represented the U.S. at the 2007 Pan American Games in the Single and Quadruple Sculls, taking silver in the Quad.

For today’s episode we are joined by Dr. Steve Estes, professor in the Department of Health and Human Performance at Middle Tennessee State University. Dr. Estes did his undergraduate and masters studies in kinesiology at San Diego State University, and received the doctorate from The Ohio State University with an emphasis in sport culture. After completing the doctorate Dr. Estes taught at California State University - Fullerton, State University of New York - Cortland, East Carolina University, and Missouri Western State University before coming to Middle Tennessee State University. His administrative appointments include Director of the Center for Technology in Education at Cortland, Department Chair at East Carolina University and Middle Tennessee State University, and Dean of the College of Professional Studies at Missouri Western State University. He has also served twice as President of the National Association for Kinesiology in Higher Education, Faculty Senate Chair at SUNY Cortland, and as the keynote speaker at academic and professional conferences in his specialty areas.
