How you live with your dog matters, relationship has an enormous effect on behaviour and relationship is built in the many small moments of your day to day, not just in your training sessions. Leadership has become a bit of a loaded word in dog training, but it should be a consideration when raising and training dogs. We share their thoughts about how problems are often created by a lack of boundaries on the dogs behavour and what leadership looks like.

We believe being a pet dog can be one of the hardest jobs a dog can have, not only are there high expectations of beaviour, but often no-one has explained to the dog what those expectations are. The environments the dogs training is meant to hold up in can be challenging and ever changing, the ability to read the play and adapt is important.

Training a dog is about being aware of motivation occurring from all angles. Our job as trainers is to provide consequences to choices to alter behaviour in the future, sometimes this means providing aversive outcomes to the dog to reduce certain behaviours. This episode is about the challenges that come alogn with this and why it is an important part of training.

The leash walk.
One of the main reasons we get contacted by potential new clients is because their dog pulls on the lead. This episode isn't a how-to but instead we discuss some of the reasons dogs pull on the lead and continue to pull even when it doesn't make sense that they would.  With some extra tips about how to manage your dog when not actively training and pitfalls to be careful you don't fall into when working on this behaviour.
