It’s time for Spooktober pt. 3, and this time, the stories come from real people who’ve experienced things they still can’t explain.
We are back with another round of creepy listener submissions, featuring a haunted movie theater, reports of giants, mysterious big cats, shadowy figures, and an unsettling (yet eerily familiar) story about a city terrorized by an unknown entity.
Some of these stories sound like something straight out of a movie. Others are the kind of encounters that make you wonder what you’d do if it happened to you.
As always, we’re sharing the stories, asking questions, and trying to make sense of the strange stuff people claim to have experienced. Are these encounters explainable, or is there more going on than we understand? You can decide for yourself.
Have you ever seen something you couldn't explain? Heard something you still can't account for? Had an experience that sounds too strange to be true? We want to hear about it! Send your stories to The Good Dumb Fun Show, and you might hear them featured in a future episode.
Get comfortable, turn down the lights (or maybe leave them on), and join us for another round of real-life spooky stories.
Subscribe for more Spooktober, weird stories, comedy, conversations, and Good Dumb Fun.

Welcome back to Spooktober! In Part 2 of the second annual GDF Spooktober Spooktacular, we head into the Appalachian woods to talk about the legends, strange encounters, and things that make you reconsider going for a nice, peaceful hike.
We’re talking the mysterious Brown Mountain Lights, Appalachian haints and bottle trees, the terrifying legend of Aunt Kate, the Not Deer, mimics, and the stories of people hearing their own names called from the woods. Why do so many people report strange experiences that sound eerily similar?
Along the way, we explore how Native American traditions and Appalachian folklore overlap and try to figure out what might be behind it all. Is there a reasonable explanation for these encounters, or are some things better left alone?
One important lesson from this episode: If you hear your name in the woods, no you didn’t. And if you get a bad feeling? Get to steppin’!
Have you ever experienced something you couldn’t explain? Send us your story! You can request to remain anonymous. Got a favorite Appalachian legend or spooky story you want us to cover? We want to hear it.

Spooktober is officially back! The Good Dumb Fun Show's second annual Spooktober Spooktacular kicks off with one simple question: Have you ever seen something you can't explain? We start with a bizarre story involving a late-night walk near a football field, a strange feeling that something was wrong, and a friend's dream that seemed to become real. From there, we get into Ouija boards, intuition, premonitions, and whether some experiences are better left unexplained.
Then Josh tells Patrick about Bill Vaile, a former NASA/aerospace engineer and extremely pragmatic, science-minded guy who reportedly experienced a series of increasingly bizarre events in his own home. What starts with strange smells and unexplained noises eventually turns into objects moving, voices coming through a phone, something moving around his house, and one absolutely terrifying encounter involving a six-foot shadowy figure and a hand reaching around the foot of his bed. Bill eventually brings in paranormal investigators, who reportedly capture things they can't explain, and the story takes an even stranger turn when he seeks help from a church.
Is Bill Vaile's story proof of the paranormal? We aren't claiming that. But that's what makes it such a fascinating story. Throughout the episode, we try to explain what happened from both a skeptical and spiritual perspective while asking the same question we want YOU to answer: Have you ever seen something you can't explain? And have you ever seen anything weird in the woods?
Send us your stories, weird experiences, favorite ghost stories, paranormal encounters, or anonymous “my friend told me this” stories. Spooktober has officially begun, and we're just getting started.

We're back! After a couple of busy weeks, Josh and Patrick finally get together to catch up — and naturally, it doesn't take long before a normal conversation turns into something completely ridiculous. Josh tells Patrick all about taking the family to Disney World for the first time, including the parks, fireworks, rides, exhausted kids, and the things they learned that will definitely change how they approach the next Disney trip.
Then things get a little more Good Dumb Fun. Patrick tells the story of a bizarre encounter at a gas station that had his brain immediately switching into “threat” mode, which somehow leads to a serious discussion about what would happen if the situation turned into an arm-wrestling match. We revisit our growing obsession with arm wrestling, the possibility of turning GDF into the “Grip Cast,” and the increasingly questionable lifestyle we're apparently trying to build.
We also get into the mailbag, respond to some listener comments, talk Alabama football after the Florida State game and “Keylawn” Russell's performance, and hear from longtime GDF contributor Sterling with a mysterious topic that may have accidentally launched Spooktober early. Plus, we debate whether we'd actually participate in a Star Wars roleplaying experience, talk about the weirdness of Disney crowds, and close with a more personal conversation about New Found Glory and the passing of the band's original guitarist, Chad Gilbert.
It's a classic catch-up episode: Disney, college football, arm wrestling, listener questions, conspiracy-adjacent rabbit holes, Star Wars, and just enough weirdness to remind us why this show is called Good Dumb Fun.
Send us your comments and SpeakPipes, and let us know what you want to hear about during our upcoming Spooktober Spooktacular!

Are giants actually real? We have absolutely no idea — but that didn't stop us from going down one heck of a rabbit hole.
This episode started with a completely casual conversation about Bible lore, giants, and monsters before we got to the core topic, “the Giant of Kandahar”. From there, we dig into the alleged story of a 12–15 foot giant encountered by U.S. military forces in Afghanistan, the mysterious disappearance of the body, alleged eyewitnesses, government cover-up theories, and all the reasons the story might be true, completely made up, or something that got seriously exaggerated along the way.
Then we go WAY deeper. We talk about giants in the Bible, the Nephilim, Goliath and his enormous armor and weapons, Greek and Norse giants, Native American legends of red-haired giants, Bigfoot and the Yeti, and the strange similarities between giant stories from different parts of the world. Are these ancient stories describing something real? Is there a reasonable explanation for any of it? Or have humans just been telling really good stories about giant dudes for thousands of years? We aren't experts, and we're not claiming we've solved anything — we're just two guys having a fun conversation about one of the weirdest rabbit holes on the internet.
This might be an early preview of our next Spooktober, so buckle up. And if you've got a favorite conspiracy theory, cryptid, unexplained story, or weird rabbit hole we should investigate, let us know in the comments or send us a SpeakPipe!

Do you guys like the intro? We spend some time catching up after Labor Day weekend and talking some college football. Nebraska survived Ohio, Alabama beat ECU, LSU absolutely handled Clemson, and we're still keeping a close eye on the chaos surrounding Lane Kiffin and the college football season.
Then things get progressively more Good Dumb Fun. We imagine a water park where NOTHING is relaxing — lazy rivers become shipwreck simulators, spas become haunted houses, and eventually we're building a full natural-disaster survival park complete with tsunamis, flash floods, wildfires, earthquakes, sharks, and whatever other terrible ideas we can come up with. We even invent the ultimate fear attraction and debate whether a Sharknado could actually be the greatest natural disaster of all time.
And somehow, all of that leads us down an entirely different rabbit hole: arm wrestling. Patrick sends Josh down the Devin Larratt rabbit hole, and suddenly we're watching professional arm wrestling, talking grip strength, mind games, broken arms, technique, and whether Devin might be one of the most entertaining athletes on the internet. By the end of the episode, we're ready to start our own arm-wrestling journey. The Good Dumb Fun Arm Wrestling Show might be coming sooner than you think.

College football is BACK, so naturally we turned the Good Dumb Fun Show into a college football show for an episode. Micah and Matt are back, and Micah opens things up by apologizing for his previous “casual” takes before we dive headfirst into Week 1. We make our picks for LSU vs. Clemson, Colorado vs. Georgia Tech, Cincinnati vs. Boston College, UCLA vs. Cal, Wyoming vs. Colorado State, Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin, Louisville vs. Ole Miss, Nebraska vs. Ohio, Baylor vs. Auburn, and East Carolina vs. Alabama — with plenty of Alabama homerism, Auburn slander, and wildly confident predictions along the way.
Then Josh puts Micah and Matt to the ultimate test with “Are You a Casual?” Can they name the new SEC coaches? Keep up with the massive college football coaching carousel? Identify the longest-tenured FBS head coach? Name the teams with colored football fields? And, most importantly, can they correctly identify which conference all these teams play in? We also talk Alabama's season outlook, Lane Kiffin, Deion Sanders, Notre Dame, the transfer portal, and the chaos that makes college football so much fun. Come back next week to see who actually knew what they were talking about.

This week on The Good Dumb Fun Show, we have absolutely no idea how we got here. We start with water heaters, home maintenance, and the hidden horrors lurking inside a 30-year-old tank before moving on to sleepless nights, getting sick, questionable home remedies, and Patrick’s disastrous first experience with sushi. Naturally, that leads us to the important question: how much wasabi is too much wasabi? We also debate whether eating an entire ball of wasabi might actually unlock 100% of your brain.
Then the Mailbag kicks the door down and things get even more chaotic. We revisit last week's college football arguments, hear Micah's latest Alabama hot take, listen to Matt's response, talk preseason expectations, and discuss whether GDF is accidentally becoming a college football show. Add in dreams, listener questions, some questionable gambling logic, and plenty of rabbit trails, and you've got another episode that somehow makes absolutely no sense and perfect sense at the same time. If you like comedy podcasts, college football, Alabama football, weird food stories, and two friends arguing about things they probably shouldn't be arguing about, this one's for you.

We're finally back after a week and a half apart, and apparently we had a lot to catch up on. In this episode of The Good Dumb Fun Show, Patrick returns from being sick with a story involving WebMD, a mysterious infection, and what we are officially calling "COVID of the butt," while Josh recaps a family beach trip, good seafood, and the joys of living somewhere that isn't completely landlocked. We also pull back the curtain on the disaster behind our D&D episode, including how we somehow lost the video and didn't realize it until the day before it was supposed to go live.
Then we dive into a packed Mailbag, revisit the D&D adventure and Gibbles the 82nd, talk about dreams, déjà vu, nightmares, and whether dreams can predict the future, and somehow end up debating the nutritional merits of soda versus donuts. Finally, we get into college football, including the SEC vs. Pac-12 debate, Notre Dame, preseason rankings, Alabama's upcoming season, and the timeless question: "Who have they played?" If you enjoy comedy podcasts, college football, D&D, weird debates, listener mailbags, and two friends going down completely unnecessary rabbit holes, this one has plenty of good dumb fun.

RIP Patrick as we publish our last pre-recorded episode of The Good Dumb Fun Show! This week on The Good Dumb Fun Show, we're doing something we've never done before: Patrick created a D&D-style choose-your-own-adventure, and Josh has absolutely no idea what he's doing. Josh gets dropped into a strange fantasy world with no idea how he got there, and Patrick becomes the Dungeon Master as Josh has to make every decision along the way.Put on your wizard hats, roll your 20-sided die, and dive in with us to the fantastical world of Cornea! If you like Dungeons & Dragons, tabletop RPGs, fantasy stories, choose-your-own-adventure games, improv comedy, or just listening to two friends make things up as they go, this is definitely some good dumb fun. If that's not your vibe, like and sub anyway in Patrick’s memory.
