freedom clay is the founder of the art collective aptly named Artsy People of Color. For more than 25 years Durham North Carolina artist freedom clay has worked to celebrate the multi-dimensional facets and plight of Black America by celebrating and affirming its beauty and humanity. This is done by creating paintings in response to what’s going on in his life personally, socially, and politically, as well as how these contexts inform how individuals are perceived and treated in broader society.
