There are two gorilla species and four subspecies. This is the mountain gorilla. It is critically endangered with less than 800 individuals. Mountain gorillas are only found in three countries and have limited or confined space/land to move. Gorillas can be popular among African adventure seekers, so they can have many foreign visitors. Do they like all of the attention? Not so much, but it helps to raise some awareness and increase educational efforts about their importance.
