In this passage we find two people who are given the great honor of testifying to the Child Jesus. Their testimony is life-changing and amazing. They so clearly portray the truth of who this Child Jesus really is.

Here we find the Child that is sent as God's salvation for mankind. The extent of this salvation sparks an amazment, a desire to praise and proclaim God, and a desire for our eternal home in heaven with God. This is no ordinary Child - He is the Consolation of Israel, the Redemption of Jerusalem, the Salvation of the world.

God, in His goodness, has elected to use and involve His children in His purposes in the world. Christians have the great honor of joining God in His work throughout creation. This provides for the believer great enjoyment and satisfaction.

This passage of Scripture examines the birth of John the Baptist and God's great purpose of redmeption. It shows us that while God is in control He does call us to exercise obedience and faith in joining His work for our enjoyment and His glory.
