The recent eruption in the Middle East from the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict has been on the nightly news and on most people’s minds. What is often forgotten in the discussion is the Christians caught in the crossfire. In this episode, Nabil Nour—a Palestinian by nationality, an Arab by race, and a Christian by grace—discusses his experience as a Palestinian Christian living in Israel and offers some guidance, not seen on the news, on what we as American Christians should do about it.

Since 2008, a debate has raged within the LCMS about antinomianism. This is not the same kind of antinomianism addressed in the Formula of Concord, but it is like it. In this episode, Mark Surburg distinguishes between the “soft antinomianism” we see today, and that of the first and second antinomian controversies in the 16th Century.

Finding the right starting point makes all the difference. We begin with the institution and mandate of the Lord. This is the hermeneutical principle set forth by the Lutheran divines and put into practice in our Confessional documents for faith and life. In this episode, we look at the Office of the Public Ministry in light of this hermeneutical principle.

We have all lived through a big test where we were called to confess Christ before men and found that we were not ready. Since we can expect more contests in the future, how can we train ourselves to stand in the trials of our faith? In this episode we explore how to train for these events.
