What is God’s Will?
When we ask this, we mean- What am I supposed to be doing, or Where should I go?
But his will and desires are far more bigger and complex than the mere question itself.
Simply stated, God’s will is his plan and design for all of creation. God’s will begins with his intention based on his nature–goodness, love, hope. His extravagant love that all should come to the knowledge of him. there is power and authority to ensure that his desires and instructions are carried out.
Lets go over 5 things God showed me
- Stop Doing Things FOR God. Live WITH Him. -Attempting to carry out God’s will separate from our intimate relationship with him leads to dead religion and legalism. (Pharisees). Matt 7: 21-23 talks about many will say Lord Lord did we not.. But he will say- I never knew you. Jesus will reject us for a lack of relationship with him. If his ultimate goal and plan is the reconciliation of all things to the Father, then why do we think we could do his will apart from living reconciled in intimate relationship, listening to his voice? We can’t. Read John 5:30- perfect answer
Submit our will to Him.- John 5:30, Jesus declares that he didn’t live according to his own will but submitted to the Father. Paul tells us in Romans 12:1-2 Say what? Living sacrifices holy & pleasing to him.Does the Decision Go Contrary to God’s Revealed, Universal Will?- then run warriors! Run from that direction. At the same time, we know the kinds of things that please God–the fruit of the Spirit, generosity, forgiveness, humility, etc. We simply need to listen to his voice for the details of our specific situation, or direction. sometimes we have to get the door slammed in our face and not take it as a blow, but possibly a rerouting us by God. Take the door slam and move on where he directs. and if its still through that slammed door... God says what he opens-- no man shuts and what he closes, no man can open. Have faith warrior and let him lead. be patient. Seek Counsel from other Faithful warriors-Find like minded warriors who can encourage and pray with you. Prov. 27:17 As iron sharpens Iron, so one person sharpens another. Share my friend and I. Other disciples will see things about us we don’t, our gifts and spiritual impacts in ways we can’t. Since they also want the best for us, these saints can give further wisdom about life’s decisions. In turn Holding one another accountable and discipling each other.Don’t Worry about Making a Mistake- He remembers that we are but dust. Ps. 103:14. Fear of making a mistake will keep us from stepping out in faith when God speaks. When we do mess it up, He corrects us in love and nudges us along the right way.
In Closing- We must live in close relationship with the Father; submit our will and expectations to God’s plan, knowing he is good and leads us to greater things; stay rooted in the wisdom of scripture; seek wisdom in close, trusted spiritual community; don’t allow fear to rob you of the faith to act.
