This video features a Sunday School lesson led by Bill Ward at the South Gastonia Church of God on Pentecost Sunday.

The discussion centers on the baptism in the Holy Spirit, examining its biblical foundation, its purpose for believers, and how it differs from the initial indwelling of the Holy Spirit at salvation (25:22-26:59).

Key themes of the lesson include:

Biblical Foundation: The lesson explores key scriptures, including Acts 1:4-8, which documents Jesus' promise of the Holy Spirit to his disciples, and Acts 2:1-4, which describes the arrival of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost (6:30-12:12, 13:00-14:30).

Purpose and Evidence: The speaker explains that while believers are indwelled with the Holy Spirit upon salvation, the baptism in the Holy Spirit provides spiritual power and enabling for service and effective witnessing (10:31-11:57, 28:00-28:20).

The manifestation of speaking in other tongues is highlighted as the initial and normative evidence of this experience (14:30-14:46).

Addressing Common Perspectives: Drawing from his own background as a former atheist and former Baptist, the speaker addresses common questions, anxieties, and misconceptions regarding the experience (1:37-2:50,

18:52-20:00).

He emphasizes that seeking this gift should be done with a yielded heart, not through human effort or manufactured emotion (3:45-5:22).

Reverence for Memorial Day: At the beginning and end of the session, the speaker takes time to acknowledge Memorial Day, encouraging attendees to honor those who sacrificed their lives for the freedom to worship (0:30-1:37, 30:26-31:14).
