Just before His death, Jesus began handing off the work of the kingdom to those around him. They weren’t the religious leaders who abused authority, but regular people who had a heart and desire to follow Him. This extends to us, too, the modern church. We have been entrusted with the good news and good works of a faithful kingdom. Jesus then exposes hypocrisy that still enflames the church today.
