On September 2, 2017, nearly 70,000 people stood together and waved for the first time to the children at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital (UISFCH). The day marked the beginning of a legacy that embodies altruism, hope and philanthropy – values intrinsic to the Iowa community.

Avid children’s charity supporter and Iowa Native, Lori Willis, is the Co-Founder and Board President of The Iowa Wave Shirt. Along with partners, Meighan Phillips and Brooke Mickelson, she was moved by seeing “The Iowa Wave” and simply decided to create a shirt to celebrate it and raise money for the kids at the hospital. In 4 seasons, The Iowa Wave Shirt has raised over $1.5 million for UISFCH through the sale of Iowa Wave Shirt apparel.

In addition, Lori has also served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for the state of Iowa, co-chaired Blank Children’s Festival of Trees, co-chaired Children’s Cancer Connection Couture for a Cause, and has hosted multiple fundraisers for various children’s charities across the state through their family business, Willis Automotive.

Lori resides in Des Moines, IA along with her husband Jason and 3 children, AJ, Katelyn and Jackson.
