Inspired by Ariana Grande and her pet pig 'Piggie Smalls' the Fergal D'Arcy Show was determined to try and beat that moniker with our listeners help!

It's a fact that we love our pets in this country.

But it's also a fact that we love a proper pun pet name.

We spoke to Sinead and Alan who told Fergal the story behind their brilliant pet names.

My sister and her partner have very special vintage tractor that they've lovingly restored to factory condition. Hence when they got themselves a new cat they decided to call him Massey "Purrguson" in honour of their pride and joy! 🐱🐱

Hi Ferg.. my cat's name is The Big Meowski...due to the fact that he loves the sound of his own voice 😂 

Ferg we have a fish which looks like he has a mask on his face so we called him Mad Max

We have a pug called Sparky short for 'Spark Pug!!'

Hey Ferg  my boyfriend's 9 year old nephew called his dog Deefer....= D for Dog 😅 we thought it was very clever!🤣

My next door neighbors dog is called ask him and when he died they got a female called ask her

We named my sister Maria's cat Ollie Purrs.
