The Green IT (r)evolution

Listen Later

Tech companies must start identifying priority use cases and start building winning capabilities in green technologies. However, Green IT is still at a nascent stage despite the growing demand for more sustainable technologies. BCG* estimates that Green Tech will become as large as a US$45-55 Billion market by 2027. This growth can only be supported by sustainability-driven model transformation across sectors.

What is alarming is the figures regarding the impact of tech advances on the environment. For exemple, 3% of the world's electricity supply is generated by the impact of Big Data and Cloud Computing alone. Training a single AI model injects more CO2 into the atmosphere than five cars would emit in their entire life cycle*. Yet these figures are still under-reported... What is the current situation and how can we make a change?

At Digitalcity.brussels, we wanted to go further in our discussions over Green IT that was already discussed in previous episodes (Thierry Chappe & Olivier Vergeynst). In this Podcast, we have interviewed Stéphan Peccini that works at Info Green Factory and is passionnate about his mission and the initiatives he undertakes  to help companies in their transition for a more sustainable digital environment.
