Among the exhibits currently running at the Delaware Art Museum is one called "Dark Humor." This exhibit features 19 works from University of Delaware’s African American permanent collection produced between 1970 and 2008 that explore how contemporary artists use subversive humor to question cultural and racial stereotypes.

On the west side of Fort Dupont’s sprawling coastal campus, a yellow backhoe is taking bites out a squat red-brick building that once housed state-run medical facilities. The demolition is just the start of the redevelopment of the 325-acre historic site that will eventually include a new residential community, shops and an entertainment center while preserving many former military buildings that date back to the 19th century.

Democratic candidate for New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer says he wants to make battling the county and state’s heroin epidemic a priority.

Competition among Democrats for open statewide seats is fierce this election season. Delaware’s lone and vacant congressional spot pits six D’s against each other, with cash flowing from all kinds of sources. In a 3-2 decision, the Delaware Supreme Court has ruled the state’s death penalty unconstitutional. The 98-page opinion from Chief Justice Leo Strine found that certain aspects of Delaware’s statute conflict with a recent U.S. Supreme Court Case striking down Florida’s capital punishment program.

Fort Christina National Historic Landmark used to draw people curious about the history behind the early settlement of Delaware by the Swedes. But the Wilmington historic site, marking where the Kalmar Nyckel carrying Swedish settlers landed in 1638, has been dormant for 10 years. That is until three parties teamed up to reopen it to the public this summer.
