On a Monday in May of 2005, deputies in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho responded to a call at the Groene residence. When they arrived, they found blood covering the walls and floors of the home. The bodies of the mother, Brenda, her boyfriend, Mark, and Brenda’s 13-year-old son, Slade, were lying on the living room floor, clearly victims of a vicious attack. A triple murder was unheard of in the small Idaho town. As they looked around the rest of the home, detectives realized that the two youngest Groenes, 8-year-old Shasta and 9-year-old Dylan were missing. There was no sign of the two anywhere on the property or in the surrounding area. Less than two months later, a waitress at a local Denny’s called 911 because she believed that Shasta was sitting in her restaurant. Police arrived to find the missing girl and her abductor, who was arrested immediately. But who was this man who’d committed a triple murder and a double kidnapping? It couldn’t have been a first time offender. Most importantly, where was Dylan Groene?

On July 9th, 1993, at 1:40 a 911 call was placed by Russell Bennett Peterson. He told the operator that he and his girlfriend had a fight and that she had been shot, but he claimed to not know who shot her. Stephanie Wasilishin was the mother of two young children who tragically lost her life that night. It has been 30 years since Stephanie’s death, and justice has still not been served. Her older daughter, Nikki, has taken up the fight for her mother, and she is on a mission to find the answers that no one seems to want to provide.

The Murder of Stephanie Wasilishin

Thirteen-year-old Hailey Dunn went missing from her home two days after Christmas in Texas in 2010.  She remained a missing person until her remains were found in 2013.  Though her body was laid to rest in 2017, an arrest wasn’t made until 2021 and that person has since been released.  Hailey’s case is still open and unsolved fourteen years later.

The Murder of Hailey Dunn

Serving as a sheriff's deputy in Martin County, Florida, Gerard Schaefer led a double life, portraying himself as a dedicated officer while secretly engaging in gruesome acts. Schaefer was convicted of the first degree murders of two young women, Susan Place and Georgia Jessup. Investigators suspect that Schaefer was responsible for as many as thirty murders from the late 60s to the early 70s before his arrest and eventual conviction. During his incarceration, Schaefer penned short stories depicting the abduction and murder of women, some of which contained chilling details correlating with women who had been reported missing or bodies that had been found, adding a disturbing layer to the already gruesome nature of his crimes.

Serial Killer Gerard Schaefer

On February 19, 2020, Rowan Baxter forced his way into his estranged wife’s car, poured gasoline on Hannah Clarke and their three children, Aaliyah, Laianah, and Trey, and lit them on fire. Just eleven weeks prior, Hannah was brave enough to take her children and leave her abusive relationship and try to move on with her life. Baxter, unable to control Hannah, wanted to make her pay. After taking the lives of his children and wife, Rowan Baxter died by suicide.

Hannah Clarke Family Murder

Singer, song writer, musician, artist, activist, legend… Beatle. John Lennon was all of these and more to many people. He was an inspiration to millions during his life and continues to be for many more after his passing. Lennon’s life was tragically cut short when he was only 40 years old. He was entering his apartment building around 10:50 PM one evening when he was shot from behind by a gunman. By 11:15, he was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Friends, family, and fans throughout the world mourned his passing.
