GROUNDO's family had decided to go to Hawaii for the winter holidays, and GROUNDO is upset and saying 'it's not fair!', because even though he agreed when the family made the original plans, now that it is winter, he wants to go to Tahoe, where they usually go and where there is snow!
It's not a secret that most kids think only grownups are in charge*. In the GROUNDO Club's first episode of the INNER YOU series for big kids (even tweens and teenagers), they discover that there are many ways this isn't true and that, in fact, they are in charge of a lot that goes on in their world. It all starts with knowing their INNER YOU. If you want to help your child discover the process of learning about their INNER YOU, listen alongside your child/tween or teenager and/or listen on your own. This episode ends with some questions for your child to answer and an offer for them to message me (with your permission) with questions, comments or a request to talk on the phone or FaceTime with me.
*This episode is also good for adults who think 'others' are in charge of them.
GROUNDO learns about having good character on a bus through a number of mishaps and then help from his mom and five friends, Stinky, Pinky, Winky, Blinky, and of course, Chicken.
Six True or False Facts about Living Things that Fly and one Bonus True or False Fact about polar bears. Listen, learn, draw and HAVE FUN!
GROUNDO is playing with his snow airplane in his Papa's dining room (right next to the cabinet with dishes). He tries to explain why the dishes got broken after he flew his snow airplane, and why it wasn't his fault, but eventually he says he's sorry. Sign Language Included in this episode.
GROUNDO goes ice-skating and blames Rose when he falls down. After GROUNDO's mom reminds him of one of his THINGS I WANT TO LEARN LIST was 'be honest and take responsibility', GROUNDO takes responsibility and tells Rose he is sorry.
Introducing GROUNDO Club's newest game, Quirky Questions (based on people, places and things), for ages 3 and up. Children are encouraged to listen, think and respond after hearing four options for the correct answer. Many possible silly answers are inserted to gain children's attention and bring delight. Enjoy!
In this first episode after returning from a break, teacher Linda tells the story of GROUNDO only wanting to get presents and not give them, until his big brother, Rocco, helps him understand the good feelings in giving.
In today's podcast, we have a special guest, my niece, Natasha, who has her own podcast called, "Kids are Creative!'. As the GROUNDO Club guest today, Natasha will share a Christmas Tree Directed Draw.
After one year and 195 episodes, I will no longer be 'adding more episodes and games' to the GROUNDO Club Podcast. It has been an honor for me to share these stories and games with children and families, especially during the past year of challenging times with COVID. From the bottom of my heart, my hope is that the podcast has brought hours of fun, engagement and learning, as well as a type of 'muscle-memory' into what 'good character' looks like and doesn't look like when they think of (or hear) the name GROUNDO and/or the words 'good character'.
***The podcast will continue and is available to all who would like to listen to episodes they haven't heard, re-listen to episodes they've enjoyed in the past and even play games on the podcast or with friends and family.***
