Après une enfance et une jeunesse classique remplie de bonnes notes et de grandes écoles, Ismael Belkhayat commence par prendre la voie classique du consulting, en commençant sa carrière chez le fameux cabinet BCG (Boston Consulting Group). À 28 ans, suivant ce qu'il appelle un "wake-up personel", Ismael décide de tout plaquer pour rentrer au Maroc et créer sa "start-up studio".
Après deux succès entrepreneuriaux au travers de sarouty.ma et votrechauffeur.ma, mais aussi des dizaines d'échecs, Ismael décide de créer chari.co, une application qui connecte les commerçants de proximités (très sollicités au Maroc) aux "wholesalers". Les produits sont généralement livrés en moins de 24h.
Depuis sa création il y a 18 mois à peine, Chari.co connait une ascension fulgurante, avec déjà des millions en chiffre d'affaire, plusieurs levées de fonds, deux acquisitions, mais surtout, un ticket d'entrée dans le saint-graal des start-up: Y-Combinator. Ce faisant, Chari.co devient la première start-up Marocaine à rejoindre les rangs de ce que beaucoup considère comme le meilleur start-up accelerator au monde.
