As children, we understand who God is from our parents until we come to a stage where we can know God for ourselves. We see the real God through our parents' eyes. Our perception of God as children was primarily developed by our parents' example, our relationship with them, especially with our fathers. If we see intolerance, self-centeredness, unforgiveness, lack of trust, and frequent anger, there is a likelihood that we will think that is how God is, and this may provoke a negative attitude towards God's authority later in life. That will be our image of God.
