Since everyone else is throwing in their two cents, you know the Gun Cranks couldn't resist — except we actually waited for some of the facts to come out (what a wild concept, right?)
Drawing on their law enforcement experience and firearms knowledge, GUNS Magazine Editor Brent T. Wheat, American Handgunner Editor Tom McHale and Special Projects Editor Roy Huntington assess the assassination attempt on former President Donald J. Trump at his campaign rally in Butler, Pa.
• How could this have happened? • Did the Secret Service respond appropriately? • What was local law enforcements role? • Thoughts on all the conspiracy theories • And where do we go from here?
You never know what the Gun Cranks are going to talk about next, and this episode is proof.
The Cranks reconvene to talk about the recent bump stock decision, the loss of Mike Venturino and Mark Hampton, and the new Angry Baboon Oracle.
Be sure to stick around 'til the end for a patriotic "Hold My Beer" video in honor of the 4th of July ... just disregard the sheer look of panic and frustration on Ashley's face over the technical difficulties. The show must go on!
We've all heard the theory: Gun owners must be overcompensating for something — or rather, their lack of "something." The bigger the gun or the more guns a guy has, the smaller his ---- must be, right? There's even a hypothesis called the “psychosexual theory of gun ownership”.
Well, a team of sociologists from The University of Texas at San Antonio, Texas A&M University, and Florida State University finally decided to put the theory to the test. Earlier this month, they published their findings in the American Journal of Men's Health. The results may or may not surprise you...

While Tom McHale took some well-deserved and long-overdue time off, Brent Wheat and Roy Huntington made the trek to Dallas for the 2024 NRA Annual Meeting. Tune in to hear what products caught their attention and what you need to know about the organization's newly elected president, Bob Barr.
Legislators may not be calling for an all-out ban on all firearms, but they are taking a death-by-a-thousand-cuts approach. Case in point: The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) recently extended the "temporary" ban on exporting firearms, ammunition, and related components to non-governmental end users in select countries. The Gun Cranks sound off on the impacts we've already seen and what the extension could mean for the future of the firearms industry.

Watching the old become new again is a constant in life. We see it with clothing trends, music, and yes, even guns. Two recent examples come to mind: The resurgence of leverguns and how new, younger shooters are "discovering" revolvers.
In this episode of Gun Cranks, Brent T. Wheat and Roy Huntington share another example — the return of the M16A2-style rifle. But, does new and updated mean better?
