Transportation Tax? Competing Visions, Conflicting Promises, what is best for Fresno and the taxpayers? A coalition of transportation experts revealed a tax proposal to fix Fresno County roads, which means voters may have two plans to pick from.

Former Fresno County Supervisor Henry Perea said this plan dedicates more money to roads and is more flexible than another proposal gathering signatures. The plan would consolidate public transportation while keeping funding levels the same. Perea said that makes buses more efficient. Fresno Unified’s Joint Health Management Board approved an additional health care plan Thursday, expanding options for retirees. Soon, Medicare eligible retirees will have the option to enroll in traditional Medicare with the district providing a secondary plan.
