In this episode, I'm joined by Stephania Bell, co-author of The Clinical Orthopedic Assessment Guide, co-host for the Fantasy Focus Podcast and ESPN Fantasy Football Injury Analyst for the television show Fantasy Football Now.
In this episode, Stephania shares her amazing journey including successes/discouragements that led her to her current position. We also discuss women in sports media/rehab who are crushing it and the stigmas that still revolve around her, concussions and their after-effects, NFL player safety, and more. She uses her experience to review videos of players' injuries and in consultation with their orthopedic surgeons, determines their training activities to make educated predictions on the athlete's return to play timeline assisting Fantasy Football players in their weekly start/bench decisions.
Prior to joining ESPN, Bell worked for Kaiser Permanente in San Jose, Calif., and taught at the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship. She has held teaching positions in the physical therapy programs at Samuel Merritt College and the University of Kansas and has lectured nationally on various topics. She has also served as a consultant for athletes and performing artists with complex conditions.
It was an absolute honor being able to sit-down with Stephania Bell and I'd like to share my gratitude once more to Dr. Bell for finding the time to sit and share with me her inspiring story that I hope will encourage other females in this profession who have a passion for Sports rehab or who may want to pursue a career similar to Stephania's.
