The motivator that pushes one to finish their work is an "incentive"! If you really want to recognize your employees for their hard work, you've got to do more than just giving them a pat on the back. I mean, who doesn't love receiving something free that's going to benefit them in the long run?
To keep your talent happy and engaged, reward them with incentives!
A research study was done by Barbara Zabawa and her team showing that incentives ARE a driver to act. Regardless of income, people are pushed to participate in programs and activities to get the incentive reward, even the smallest bit of it.
And today, Barbara Zabawa joins us again to talk about incentives and the laws related to it. She was our guest back in episode 5, on how to stay in compliance with the law when it comes to implementing employee health programs.
In this conversation, we discussed the results of her research on how incentives get people involved with various program offerings in the workplace. We also touched on the issue between AARP suing EEOC and why it's important for our employees to have incentives that work.
Incentives are still something that a lot of people want. Having a happy healthy workplace requires an incentive that caters to our employees need(s) and programs that work for the workplace.
What you will learn:
- Incentives tied to workplace wellness programs
- When do employees feel obligated to give up their health information in exchange for earning an incentive
- The rate of employees participating in a program when there is no incentive involved
- What made Barbara decide to research on incentives, health information collection, and workplace wellness programs
- AARP vs. EEOC
- Shocking results from Barbara's research survey
