Dr. Tim Gallimore, former Spokesperson for the Prosecutor of the UN International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), will discuss genocide ideology and genocide denial as part of part of Rwanda's official commemoration of the 1994 genocide on April 7th. The Rwanda genocide is one of the most horrifyingly tragic and shocking massacres in history. However, what made this genocide so horrifying is not only the magnitude in which lives were lost but the roles the international community, media, and government played in this injustice.

Alberta politics is strange. Or is it? We've only changed provincial governments four times since becoming a province in 1905, we've been the birthplace of many parties (like Social Credit) and our voting habits don't often seem to have much of a relationship to what's going on in the rest of the country. The course will cover everything you need to know to easily follow provincial politics in Alberta. What powers do provincial governments actually have? What is the relationship between Alberta's government, municipalities and the federal government? Why do Albertans vote the way they do? Other topics include, provincial sales tax, Daylight Saving Time, equalization, and energy policy.
By completion of this course, successful students will be able to:
Paul Fairie has been a sessional instructor at the University of Calgary in political science since 2010. Paul is also a data scientist at Centrality Data Science in Calgary, and a regular contributor to the Globe and Mail where he tries to make political science research accessible to the general public.
Calgary Law DayLearn about Alberta's law system with mock trials (our fave: Batman v. Robin), a public speaking competition, high school mock trial tournament with guided tours and free consultations all day. Oh yeah, and storybook cosplay.
The Great Dash Rabbit Race"The Great Dash is all about solving clues, taking on challenges and having a fun packed adventure! You might have to decorate a cake, solve a puzzle, build a birdhouse, design a wall tile, ride an innertube, figure out a brain teaser or even eat a local delicacy. You never know WHAT challenges and competitions will await you, but you're guaranteed that you will have a great time completing them! "Family Great Dash teams for the Rabbit Race on April 13th can be made up of 2 to 6 participants. Each team must have at least 1 adult, at least 1 child 5+ and 1 licensed driver.
Hike with Slow And Steady HikersAfter attending Bear Day in the morning at Canmore Nordic Centre (9am-10:30am), we will drive into Canmore and hike around some of the Riverside Trails in Canmore.
Bear DayTo coincide with bears' emergence from their winter dens, Alberta Parks and WildSmart are once again hosting Bear Day at Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park's Day Lodge.
This event is a celebration and welcoming of grizzly bears back on the landscape for another year. It's also a great opportunity for the public to learn more about our area's grizzly bears and serves as a reminder that it's time once again to be bear aware.
Indoor and outdoor activities include bear spray demonstrations, safety talks, a bear trapping demonstration, and a scavenger hunt for the kids! Learn how to camp safely in bear country, and view grizzly bear and other wildlife displays. Back by popular demand, we will have a hike for families to learn the ins and outs of being "bear aware" on the trail in a fun and interactive way (registration required).

Sunday, April 14 Come Try RingetteAges 4-13, any skating ability welcome – Participants will be lead through various on-ice drills and games that are suitable to all skill levels. We will have great Volunteers on and off the Ice answering your questions and helping out those new ringette stars!

Whether you're a Professional, Amateur, YouTuber, or Instagrammer, you'll have the opportunity to take photos with the opportunity to ask questions, get help with learning more about your camera in a fun and relaxed outdoor atmosphere. The rules for DemoCamp are simple: Ten companies will be given 7 minutes to demo their real, working products, followed by 5 minutes for questions. No slides are allowed.
Tuesday, April 16 Electron Synth NightA monthly (no regular night) for local synth enthusiasts. Gear is brought, many boops are had.
