Since 2007, Jane’s Walk is an annual festival of free, citizen-led walking conversations inspired by Jane Jacobs. On the first weekend of May every year, Jane’s Walk festivals take place in hundreds of cities around the world. Jane’s Walks encourage people to share stories about their neighbourhoods, discover unseen aspects of their communities, and use walking as a way to connect with their neighbours. There are nearly 70 walks listed for this year so far, including an architectural history of Calgary’s downtown libraries, a sunset hike with your dog at Fish Creek Park, and a Sunnyside garage art tour.

“Three years ago I began a project called "Where in the World is Llisa Bastard" in which a small print would be hidden somewhere in a city park or on a hiking trail. If you've been following along with the project, you'll already know how it works. A piece of trivia about the area the print was hidden in is posted to social media. One part educational, one part geocache, the first person to correctly decipher the location based on the information provided, and explore the area thoroughly enough to locate the print is invited to keep the print as a prize. It's an incentive for people to learn more about the areas we recreate in, but more importantly, to go outside and explore it for themselves. Those who learn about and experience the natural world we live in, are more likely recognise the importance of protecting it.”

The RASC Calgary Centre will present a What's Up in the Sky Tonight and if the skies are clear, the telescopes will be operating. The open house will feature access to an array of telescopes operated by University of Calgary astronomers and members of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada – Calgary Centre. You will have the opportunity to look through the telescopes and astronomers will be on hand to answer questions. In the sky – A new moon will provide dark sky conditions to observe the spectacular Orion nebula in the southern sky.

Marthe Cohn, was born in Metz, France in 1920. She was a beautiful, young woman living across the German border in France, when Hitler rose to power. As the Nazi occupation escalated, Marthe's sister was sent to Auschwitz while her family fled to the South of France.
Marthe chose to fight back, and joined the intelligence service of the First French Army. Utilizing her perfect German accent and Aryan appearance, Marthe posed as a German nurse desperately trying to obtain word of a fictional fiancé. She traveled the countryside and approached troops sympathetic to her plight, thereby obtaining critical information for the Allied commanders.

Naloxone is a drug that can temporarily reverse an opioid (such as fentanyl) overdose, so long as it is given right away and followed up by emergency medical care. In other words: if you’re having an OD from opioid (such as fentanyl), naloxone can save your life. Naloxone kits are light and portable; they can be easily stored in a purse or backpack. In this training, a registered harm reduction nurse will provide instruction on how to give naloxone to those who are overdosing.
