Naloxone is a drug that can temporarily reverse an opioid (such as fentanyl) overdose, so long as it is given right away and followed up by emergency medical care. In other words: if you're having an OD from opioid (such as fentanyl), naloxone can save your life. Naloxone kits are light and portable; they can be easily stored in a purse or backpack. In this training, a registered harm reduction nurse will provide instruction on how to give naloxone to those who are overdosing.

"WHAT HAS SPACE BROUGHT US?"

Some people believe that taxpayers' dollars should not be spent on space exploration when we have more pressing social problems on Earth. In fact, investment in space has brought many advances to society. Dr. Robert Thirsk will highlight some of its scientific, technological and medical benefits. He will also describe how the view of Earth from space impacts our perceptions of social priorities.
