The Harbor

What does it mean to be asleep spiritually? In Ephesians 5, Paul gives a warning with a promise to his fellow Christ-followers not to be asleep, but to “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” Some are asleep and don't even realize it. This could lead to dangerous consequences for themselves and those around them, definitely impeding their walk with Christ. Are you asleep? Listen to this message by Director of Worship Arts Chris Taylor to learn more.

A memorial is something that keeps remembrance alive. Praise is a memorial. As much as it is us telling God how much we love Him, it also builds our faith by reminding us of all the things God has done, all the times He's been there for us. As we praise God, we can experience His power to keep our focus on Him and not on our problems. In praising, His power can set us free! And as we praise God, His power can lead others to faith in Him. In this message, Pastor Jeff Maness shows us that when we praise God we don’t just express His power; we experience it!

This was a special Sunday in which we praised God through music throughout the entire service. Unfortunately, we had to cut the music portion from this message due to copyright laws. Click to experience the full service on YouTube.com/TheHarbor.

Everyone has doubts about Jesus from time to time. Even His cousin, John the Baptist, the one who devoted his life to preparing the way for the Messiah, had doubts. And yet even though John doubted Jesus said, “of all who have ever lived, none is greater than John the Baptist." But what do we do with our doubts? How do we handle them well? In this message, Pastor Jeff Maness gives us three things we can do to handle doubt.

Doubts themselves aren’t wrong, but they can easily lead us astray. Doubting God can lead us to distrust Him, to disobeying Him, and to our destruction. But if we examine those areas in our lives, our doubts can finally lead us to full dependence on God.

As you listen to this message, pray and ask these questions:

• Distrust – “What areas of my life am I struggling to trust You the most?”
• Disobedience – “What parts of my life have I allowed distrust to lead me astray?”
• Destruction – “Where in my life do You want to restore what is battered and broken?”
• Dependence – “No matter what my surroundings tell me, I am choosing to trust in You!”

Baptism is a public expression of the inward work that Christ has done in our hearts. But it represents much more than that. Listen to this message, "What Does Baptism Represent?" to learn what baptism is all about.

One question that many ask is, "If God is real, especially if He’s loving, why would He allow so much evil, pain, and suffering?" This may be the most common question and most common critique of the Christian faith. It is such a relevant question in life and one that Senior Pastor Jeff Maness has an answer to in his message, "Evil, Pain, & Suffering".

As Christians we look to the Bible for answers. But how can we know that the Bible is trustworthy? In this message, Senior Pastor Jeff Maness shows why there is abundant evidence that we can fully trust the Bible.

How can you believe in God when you can’t prove He exists? That is the Big Question in this second message of Doubters Welcome. Senior Pastor Jeff Maness challenges us to ask if there is any evidence of God or not, and if so, where does it lead?

Everyone deals with doubt. Even the most faithful followers of Jesus experience doubt at some point in their life. How can Jesus be the only way to Heaven? What if the Bible can’t be trusted? Why is there so much evil, pain, and suffering in the world? Can you really prove God exists? Those are legitimate questions that have haunted humans for centuries and still haunt many of us today. So, the question should not be if you’ll doubt, but what will you do with it when you do? According to Jesus, doubters were welcome with Him, so they are welcome with us as well. In this series, we’re going to address some of those fundamental questions that cause us to doubt, look at some doubters in the Bible, and in the end, we’ll find “Doubters Welcome.”

In this first message of the series, Senior Pastor Jeff Maness answers the question, "Who Is Jesus?" and then asks the most important question you will ever answer, and it may not be what you were expecting.

At the end of the Lord's Prayer Jesus says to pray, "And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one." Some translations add, "For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen." (Matthew 6:13) In this last message from the Pray Like This series, Pastor Jeff Maness shows us that God’s power is available and accessible for those who believe!
