Sometimes there are things in our lives that no amount of "trying to stop" will help. If the thing you are trying to change is important to your relationship with God, it is important enough to take drastic action. This is when you might need to "Burn the Ships". In Romans 12:1-2 Paul pleads with us to, "give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him." Of course we want to worship God in a way that will honor Him and that He will accept, but what could we possibly do that would be enough for all He has done for us? Creative Director Tim Jirrels covers Romans 8:18-30, focusing the hope we have in Jesus. In this passage, Paul says that the things we suffer in this life are nothing at all compared to the glory that waits for us. Tim explained that as Christians on earth, we are trapped in the tension of the "Already-Not Yet". When you surrender your life to Christ, you become a child of God. And yet, we live this life of suffering and sin, hoping for the day that God makes everything new. We live in hope of future glory when God will give us our new, glorified bodies, there will be no more pain or suffering, and we will be with Him always for eternity. But how do we live focusing on that hope, instead of focusing on the life in front of us? Watch this message to see.

This week’s message was jam-packed! It is really two messages of our 14 Pages series in one, Romans chapters four and six! To summarize, Pastor Rick talked about four things:

1. The importance of studying the Old Testament.
2. The importance of knowing what God has promised you, both in Scripture and through the Holy Spirit, and letting those promises shape how you live.
3. The importance of understanding that those who follow Christ have been freed from the power of sin and death.
4. The importance of being baptized once you become a follower of Christ, and how The Harbor marks that importance with a church-wide celebration (coming up in May!)

This message illuminates what God has done for us and our responsibilities in our relationship with the Almighty. It’s such a powerful message, you might want to listen to it more than once!
