The Harbor

If you are in Christ Jesus who can ever be against you? If God gave up His own Son for you, won’t He also give you everything else? Who dares accuse you if God has chosen you for His own? No one—for God has made you right with Himself.

This is true for all who follow Jesus, so why do we believe that voice from the enemy that tears us down and condemns us? What this message, "Objection...OVERRULED!!! Romans 8:31-39" from Weston Savell that will move you from feeling the hopelessness of condemnation to the joy of overwhelming victory!!

Creative Director Tim Jirrels covers Romans 8:18-30, focusing the hope we have in Jesus. In this passage, Paul says that the things we suffer in this life are nothing at all compared to the glory that waits for us. Tim explained that as Christians on earth, we are trapped in the tension of the "Already-Not Yet". When you surrender your life to Christ, you become a child of God. And yet, we live this life of suffering and sin, hoping for the day that God makes everything new. We live in hope of future glory when God will give us our new, glorified bodies, there will be no more pain or suffering, and we will be with Him always for eternity. But how do we live focusing on that hope, instead of focusing on the life in front of us? Watch this message to see.

Conviction is God’s tool that He uses in our lives when we do something wrong. This conviction allows us to see our sin, and turn from it in repentance. Satan has another plan; when we sin he wants us to feel guilt and shame and to continue to feel the weight of these emotions to paralyze us in our walk with God. The truth is, God put all our guilt and shame on His Son Jesus on the cross. How do we keep from being caught up in guilt and shame in our day-to-day life? Watch Chris Ward’s message titled, “How to Conquer Condemnation” for some wonderful, life-changing insight.

The Book of Romans, which we are studying in our 14 Pages series, is a guide to living a rich and fulfilling life. In part 8, entitled "The Promise: Romans 6:6-7" Pastor Rick Baldwin continues to show us what God's part is in making this happen, and what our part is. Watch as Rick highlights points from the last few messages and builds upon it by showing us how we can walk intimately with other Christ-Followers, so we may walk more intimately with God.

Romans chapter 6, which we studied last week, says that those who follow Christ have been freed from the power of sin. This week, in chapter 7, Pastor Rick elaborated on that point. How can we be freed from the sin that seems to have its hooks in us? Watch and see the provision God has given us when we follow Jesus, and the part we play. This message features a life-changing method of prayer and self-examination that Rick has used for over 30 years.

This week’s message was jam-packed! It is really two messages of our 14 Pages series in one, Romans chapters four and six! To summarize, Pastor Rick talked about four things:

1. The importance of studying the Old Testament.
2. The importance of knowing what God has promised you, both in Scripture and through the Holy Spirit, and letting those promises shape how you live.
3. The importance of understanding that those who follow Christ have been freed from the power of sin and death.
4. The importance of being baptized once you become a follower of Christ, and how The Harbor marks that importance with a church-wide celebration (coming up in May!)

This message illuminates what God has done for us and our responsibilities in our relationship with the Almighty. It’s such a powerful message, you might want to listen to it more than once!

If there is one word to describe the week we have just been through in Texas with "Snowvid 2021" it is "chaos". But it is possible to have peace in the midst of chaos. Watch as Creative Director Tim Jirrels teaches us how we can be at peace with God and have the peace of God, no matter what our circumstances are.

We all know better than to poke a bear. It is powerful and dangerous. If left to its own desires, our flesh can be just as powerful and dangerous. The sinful desires of the flesh can lead to death and destruction, but Jesus has come on a rescue mission to save us from our flesh and to enable us to walk according to the Spirit. We all have a choice of two different paths. Which will you choose today?

"We're not so bad, right? We're good people, much better than some. Good people go to heaven, don't they?" Sadly, this is what many think, that if they are "good" they will go to heaven. But how good is good enough? What is the standard we are measured against? Romans 3:23 says, "For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard." None, not one person is "good enough" to enter heaven. But God made a way! Watch and see what that guaranteed way is!
