Publisher's Summary:
Author Rob Hooper returns to his hometown with his wife, Janet, in search of a fresh start. They find a 20th-century Victorian-style house whose owner, an elderly widow, is eager to sell. The house, she explains, has belonged to her family for over 50 years. Its a hard deal to pass up. The gated two-story home sits on an acre of land, the only home at the end of a dead-end street, Pennington Drive. Rob remembers riding by the house on his bicycle as a child, fascinated by its isolated qualities. He tries to convince his wife to consider the widows generous offer. Its everything they ever wanted. But the home harbors a dark past involving murder, betrayal, and secrets long buried to protect the towns image.
Will Rob and Janet fall prey to the Saxton houses curse, or will they solve the mystery and shed light on the fallen before them? The supernatural horror mystery begins with the prequel to this thrilling series.

Why is he so obsessed with this house?
Rob Hooper, a writer, returns to his hometown of Cypress Creek Florida to deliver an address to the senior class of his former high school. He is uneasy about being there, and at first, canât wait to be done with the task and back to his home in Atlanta. But while he is there, he once again sees the old mansion that had fascinated him as a child. He at first thinks it is abandoned, but as soon as he discovers it is for sale, he becomes obsessed with the place.
Although he is pretty sure thereâs no way he can afford the place, the old lady who owns it makes him a deal he canât refuse. And the next thing he knows, he and his wife are moving in.
The house begins to do strange things almost at once. It makes funny noises, and the foreman of the repair crew Rob has hired to make some much-needed repairs is mysteriously pushed over by nobody anyone can see, and it changes his whole personality. This is evidently a prequel to the real haunting series, so despite a few unexplainable things, nothing much really happens in this one except that Rob discovers that a family of four was murdered in the house thirty-five years ago. And he discovers what his own relationship to the house is.
It could have used better editing.
Haunting of Saxton Mansion
I rated this a 4 star as I was waiting for more paranormal activity, but then I found that I was learning more about the characters, which I liked. I was a little disappointed with the errors in spelling and also with words that were missing. This sometimes made the sentence sound like it made no sense at all. I don't know if there are people who key this in for online books or what, but twice in this book was a phrase that should of been, "what the hell" (I'm not quoting), and instead said, "the hell". I know it was missing the word "what" but it was disconcerting seeing all the missing words in this book.
A great start, and a good read until.....
The author has me as I read and the tale unfolded, all the bumps and sounds unaccounted for kept my interest.... Until the abrupt ending that left too much unanswered. In truth this story needs to be updated with a much better ending.
