  • E46: James “Iron Cowboy” Lawrence
“Just be empowered to do that hard thing in your life… however low you are, wherever you are, there’s someone out there that loves you and there’s someone out there that can support you and there’s a way to climb out of it.” Known as the Iron Cowboy, James Lawrence completed an absolutely unprecedented and mind-boggling 50 ironman-distance triathlons in 50 states in just 50 days. This involves swimming 2.4 miles, pedaling your bike 112 miles and then running a marathon, 26.2 miles every single day for 50 days straight traveling through the night to the next starting line in the neighboring state. James completed this challenge with his wife and 5 children along his side for the entire journey. Previously James had set the Guiness Book of World Records for most half-ironman races completed in a year (22) and the most full distance ones (30). This feat shattered the later, and it's an amazing story.
